Odori-don is a sushi dish with a dead octopus that dances when soy sauce is poured on it.
CAN SOMEONE PLEASE EXPLAIN HOW THIS IS POSSIBLE IF THE OCTOPUS IS DEAD? I REALLY HOPE IT IS DEAD, BECAUSE FUCK..IT’S NASTY ENOUGH AS IT IS
the neurons are fired off when soy sauce activates them, so the animal is dead… i have very mixed feelings about this because it’s scientifically very cool and beautiful to watch, but it’s also disgusting and disrespectful to the animal. it’s like a death dance…
omg tonight I had some really delicious octopus at a friend’s house earlier. It was YUM.
That said, I’m not sure how I’d feel about eating a reanimated corpse…
