so i’m kind of glad this was addressed in something. I keep reading literature by women putting down other women for buying into “twee culture”. For enjoying girly dresses, baking, glitter and supposedly “childish things”, etc. Now i don’t think Zooey’s character in the New Girl is a representative of twee culture but she’s definately twee adjacent, but this doesn’t make her any less interesting, or tough or that you should take her any less seriously. And i’m obviously not just reffering to her character but to everyone who could be considered “twee adjacent” or has been branded “cute”. Bizarrely i’ve found my slightly off key behaviour (i blame art school) and my interests which get me branded “cute” get me more friends in the male arena and a lot of girls treat me the way the laywer treats Zooey in this episode. And it’s dumb!
